Visit to Vietnam: December 2018

VISIT PHANSINH SHELTER.jpg

Fr. Dominic and his mother visited and interacted with some of the disabled children letting them know that they are not alone and that God is always by their side. With just these simple interactions, the children were filled with joy and their smiles filled their hearts.

While in Vietnam, the goal was to finish the new homes for the elderly. Due to the Vietnamese government's laws, things were not able to go as planned. For the time being, Father Dominic's parents were more than willing to offer up their own home as a shelter for some of the elderly. With this, the government was able to acknowledge the family home as part of the non-profit organization known as "Thành đô Thiên Chúa" which means The City Of God.

Upon their arrival in Vietnam, Fr. Dominic and Fr. Anthony were informed of some unforeseen circumstances that ended up delaying the building of the homes and the blessings of them. However, they were able to bless three cornerstones instead.

While in Vietnam, they visited Fr. Tich. As a board member, Fr. Tich has been working for the diocese of Xuan Loc as chair person on the committee Protection of Life (PoL) and on expanding the mission of The City of God. He works with many women who struggle with their pregnancies and assist families with covering the expenses for the funerals of the deceased children.

While searching for other volunteers, they also came across Mr. Chau V. Bui. Mr. Chau has been serving the Vietnamese community and caring to the disabled for over 20 years.
